The Scale House Operator at Tyson RVI-Harmony rendering plant is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to weighing inbound and outbound trucks, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the efficient flow of materials in and out of the facility. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Scale House Operator will assist in supervising and training scale house staff and may be responsible for more complex tasks and responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
1. Operate electronic scales and weigh trucks accurately as they enter and exit the facility, ensuring compliance with weight regulations and company standards.
2. Record weight information, vehicle identification, and other relevant data in the computerized tracking system with precision and accuracy.
3. Provide guidance and training to Scale House Attendant I staff on weighing procedures, record-keeping, and customer service best practices.
4. Assist in coordinating truck traffic and directing drivers to designated areas for loading and unloading, collaborating with production and logistics teams to optimize efficiency.
5. Verify paperwork, including bills of lading, shipping/receiving documents, and other related paperwork, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
6. Resolve discrepancies or issues related to inbound and outbound shipments promptly and effectively, communicating with drivers, vendors, and internal stakeholders as needed.
7. Monitor the condition of scales and related equipment, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs to appropriate personnel for timely resolution.
8. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the scale house and surrounding areas, adhering to safety protocols and procedures at all times.
9. Assist with administrative tasks, such as data entry, filing, and record-keeping, to support accurate and efficient documentation of scale house activities.
10. Collaborate with management and other team members to implement process improvements, optimize workflow, and achieve operational goals.
11. Strong understanding of weighing procedures, record-keeping practices, and customer service principles.
12. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
13. Proficiency in computer skills, including data entry, record-keeping, and basic software applications.
14. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
15. Leadership skills and the ability to provide guidance, support, and training to Scale House Attendant staff.
16. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures applicable to scale house operations and truck traffic management.
17. Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to support plant operations.
18. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, climb stairs, and perform occasional lifting and bending as required.
