Starting rate $27.05 and up depending on experience The Millwright plays a vital role in maintaining and improving mill operations by performing mechanical repairs, equipment installations, and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery. This position supports plant uptime and safety by working hands-on with conveyors, saws, pumps, and other essential equipment in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. - Repair and maintain industrial equipment, including debarkers, gang saws, canters, edgers, and conveyor systems. - Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. - Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and other tools. - Assemble, install, and align machinery using hand and power tools, jacks, plumb tools, and measuring instruments. - Adjust, level, and set clearances between moving and stationary parts using appropriate tools. - Drill mounting holes and establish centerlines using drills, levels, straightedges, and transits. - Dismantle and reassemble machinery using wrenches, hammers, crowbars, and other tools. - Replace defective machine parts and realign components to restore operational efficiency. - Operate cutting torches and welders (GMAW and SMAW) for repairs and installations. - Comply with all plant safety protocols, including Zero Energy State (ZES) procedures. - Support 24/7 operations by being available for rotating shifts, overtime, and on-call duty.
Qualifications
- 18+ years old
- High school diploma
- Must pass drug screen
- Minimum 3 years of Millwright experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with cutting torches (Oxy/Acetylene) and welding (GMAW and SMAW) required.
- Ability to read technical drawings and perform precision alignments using micrometers, squares, and levels.
- Must be safety-focused and able to comply with all ZES and plant safety procedures.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and be on-call as needed.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
- Willingness to travel for company-required training and complete the Qualified Millwright training program.
- Must pass a Millwright Assessment Test as part of the hiring process.
