Job Summary

Starting salary is $60,000/year, with eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, supporting compliance with labor laws, and identifying process improvements within the payroll and timekeeping systems. This position plays a critical role in maintaining payroll accuracy for a growing, multi-state organization, with a focus on ensuring adherence to regulations and internal policies. - Manage and verify accuracy of electronic timekeeping system (TeamTime). - Process final pay for terminated employees. - Identify and correct payroll errors; communicate issues with relevant departments. - Assist with onboarding new employees and input into payroll systems. - Audit timekeeping records for compliance with state pay laws and break regulations. - Use Microsoft Office and ERP system (WinTeam) to analyze payroll trends and performance. - Ensure timely and accurate payment of meal and rest break premiums. - Collaborate with field managers to improve timekeeping processes. - Maintain focus on compliance and accuracy in key regions including California, Oregon, and Washington. - Host virtual meetings to support payroll process enhancements. - Escalate issues appropriately and coordinate with internal investigations team when needed.

Qualifications

  • College degree
  • Must pass drug screen
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in payroll processing required.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll procedures, compliance, garnishments, and benefits.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey payroll and compliance requirements to team members.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with payroll software (WinTeam experience a plus).
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
